Thread count is the number of threads contained in one square inch of fabric or one square centimeter, both length wise and width wise. The horizontal threads are called weft while the vertical threads are called warp.
Thread count determines the strength and fineness of the bed sheet. Also the high ranges of thread counts make the bed sheet softer but it’s not a general rule because the softness of bed sheet also depends on weave and fabric.
