Removing oil stains from bed sheet can be a difficult task. But obviously it’s pretty much possible. We have written down some of the effective remedies for you to remove oil stains from your favorite bed sheets.

Use Cornstarch and Dish Soap

Spread your bed sheet on a flat surface, take some cornstarch and sprinkle it well over the stain and let it sit for at least 60 minutes. After 60 minutes rub the cornstarch with your hands. This way, cornstarch will absorb the maximum oil from the surface of bed sheet.

Now take a regular dish soap that you use. Pour some dish soap over the stains on the bed sheet and rub it well with the fingers or palm of your hands. Leave the bed sheet for around 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, wash your bed sheet in washing machine with laundry soap and hot water.

Use Baking Soda and Dish Soap

This method is similar to the previous one, spread your bed sheet on plain surface and sprinkle the baking soda on the stain in a way that it covers the stain well. Now Take an old toothbrush and scrub the baking soda and leave it for around 60 minutes, it will start absorbing the oil rapidly. Now take some regular dish soap and pour it on the layers of baking soda. Scrub the soap and baking soda again using toothbrush and leave it for another 30 to 60 minutes. After that, wash your bed sheet in washing machine with hot water, laundry detergent and white vinegar.

Use Baking Soda and Hair Spray

You can also remove oil stains from bed sheet using common hair spray and baking soda. Like previous methods scrub the baking soda on stains with old toothbrush, then cover the stains and baking soda with hair spray and scrub it again. Leave the bed sheet for some time and wash it with hot water and detergent.

Use Aloe Vera and Dish Soap

Take some aloe Vera gel and dish soap in a small bowl. Mix them together using old toothbrush and then apply it on the stained part of the bed sheet. Scrub it well and leave it for 60 minutes. Then wash the bed sheet with detergent in hot water.

Use Hydrogen Peroxide Baking Soda and Dish Soap

Take some hydrogen peroxide, baking soda, dish soap and old toothbrush. Soak the stained area of bed sheet with some hydrogen peroxide, then sprinkle a thick layer of baking soda over it. Pour some dish soap, and sprinkle some more baking soda. Now scrub the entire stained area with toothbrush and let it sit for 30 to 60 minutes. Then toss the bed sheet into washing machine and wash it with regular detergent and hot water.

Note: Hydrogen Peroxide also acts as bleaching agent and shouldn’t be used on colored bed sheets.

Important to Read

Before drying the bed sheet in dryer, make sure that the stain is gone completely. If stain is still there, then drying bed sheet in dryer can make it permanent and it will be much more difficult to remove it later.

Please note that in case of washing the bed sheets, do read the washing instructions written on the tag of your bed sheet.
